Garden and Landscape Design

Liriodendron Tulipifera

The tulip tree is a member of the Magnolia family. It is native to areas throughout the eastern United States. Tulip trees make magnificently shaped speciman trees, and grow to heights as tall as 160 feet.

The flowers are pale green or yellow, with an orange band on the tepals. The tulip tree is the state tree of IndianaKentucky, and Tennessee.

Trees can make-up the bones of a landscape plan.I like to place deciduous trees on the south or west side of a home or building to provide summer shade. The trees should be placed far enough away from the house to allow for its natural growth.
