Clever use of seasonal color throughout the seasons is used at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden. The Cactus Garden is surrounded by a horseshoe shaped planting of several understory trees. Gracing the entrance is Texas mountain laurel (spring flowering), next is Desert-willow (summer flowering), and forming a back drop to the cactus, an artistic canvas of sunny Retama. The trees are Texas and Mexican (Retama) natives and water-saving.
